Finding us

You'll find a location map on the Contact Us page. St Mary's is situated in St Mary's Place, off Greengate Street, in Stafford town centre and is also known as 'the big church behind McDonald's' for navigation purposes. The church is accessible for wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs and has a toilet equipped for people with disabilities, plus baby-change facilities. The sound system has a hearing loop.

Children welcome

Children and families are most welcome. We have a well-equipped children's area with a large selection of toys, books and art activities for those who don’t want to join in the services.

What happens in a service?

Our Sunday 10.00 am service is a Eucharist - also known as Holy  Communion. We sing hymns, listen to Bible readings and a sermon, pray together, and gather at the altar for Holy Communion, sharing bread and wine  - the body of Christ - remembering and reliving the death and resurrection of Jesus. The service usually lasts for just over an hour.

There is a shorter celebration of the Eucharist without music at 12.00 noon on Tuesdays.

The Eucharist is also celebtrated at Saint Chad’s Church, Greengate Street, on Wednesdays at 11.00 am and Fridays at 12.00 noon.

We occasionally have Sunday evening services, which are often Choral Evensong: these are sung services with prayers and music from our choir.

Come as you are

You don't have dress up in your best clothes to come to church - you are welcome just as you are. We take a collection during our services to support the work of the church, but this is voluntary; there is no fee for coming to church.

We don't have our own car park. There are several car parks near St Mary's.
