The Shoe Window by
David Gleeson commemorates the footwear trade of Stafford and the surrounding
area. The border at the top of the righthand main panel carries the names of
manufacturers associated with the town.
Tools, patterns and
shoe-makers through the ages adorn the centre of the window.
A shoe-lace in the
shape of the River Sow runs across the bottom of the window bearing the words:
"May your feet be shod with the Gospel of peace."
The window was
dedicated by the Right Reverend Gordon Mursell (Bishop of Stafford) in the
presence of Her Majesty The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on 31st March 2006. |
