Dove Story

I am a bird and I fly high in the sky. Please call me Do, as I am a dove. A long, long time  ago there was a dove that helped a man called Noah. So I am going to tell you about my great, great, O so many great grandparent who helped Noah.

Noah was a man who did what God asked of him and built a very, very large boat, called an ark. In this ark there lived Noah and his family, but also there were many many animals as well. There were lions, giraffes, bears, dogs, birds and even butterflies. We all lived together very happily, as the rain fell and we sailed on the water. Then suddenly the ark stopped sailing. We were no longer floating on the water.

Noah opened the door and looked out, the rain had stopped. Noah fetched a raven who is a strong bird and asked him to fly to see what could be seen. When he came back it was nothing. Then Noah asked my great, great, O so many great grandparent to do the same and the second time they came back with a twig. A twig that had leaves on it.

The water was going and the trees were getting their leaves. They were all so pleased and as they left the ark high in the sky they saw a light with many colours in it, called a rainbow. There was red, yellow, green  and a lot of other colours. This was God’s promise not only to Noah and his family but also to us the birds and animals that he would look after us.

When you see a rainbow say thank you to God for looking after you.
