The Senior Choir is a robed choir
and is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music through which we
operate the chorister training scheme.
We sing at the main
Sunday morning Eucharist and sing a Choral Evensong on the second Sunday
of each month. The choir also sings for occasional offices and civic
services throughout the year.
Our repertoire ranges
from the 16th century to the present day. We number about
twenty voices but we are always ready to welcome new members especially
young singers and we have a music scholarship scheme to assist with
further music tuition for eligible young choristers.
We are a friendly group
with a common goal of the highest possible standards achieved by everyone
learning together and enjoying fellowship and music-making.
Choir Practice takes
place each Friday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
We have vacancies for all parts (especially
tenors) so if you can sing and would like to know more about joining the
choir at St. Mary's please contact our Director of Music Margaret Outen.

The Music Group
was formed in 2010, initially to play for All-Age Services and for Rev’d. Mandy’s
Ordination. Since then we have gone from strength to strength. We now
provide the music for All-Age and other occasional services and, more
recently, at the monthly Family Eucharists. The Friends of St.
Mary have also asked us to play.
We are an informal
group of string players and flautists supported by a pianist, with a small
group of singers. We are always on the lookout for new recruits to help
us expand the artistic life of St. Mary’s Church (and have some fun
too!). Any classical instruments would be welcome (even though this might
cause our music arrangers some headaches).
If you are interested,
and would like to talk further about joining us, please contact Margaret
